DAY 1 | HANOI OLD QUARTER


Tour start 09:00 from hotel Estimated tour completion 15:00 Visit the Museum of Ethnology then on to Ngoc Son Temple and Hoan Kiem Lake. Enjoy a walking through the bustling Old Quarter streets. A bewildering maze of shopping streets and restaurants with an amazing assortment of architecture – traditional tube houses, countless pagodas, artisans’ workshops and cottages, colonial houses and modern concrete edifices. You’ll enjoy walk around the peaceful Hoan Kiem Lake and through the less peaceful Old Quarter. Lunch at local restaurant. Back to hotel and enjoy the rest of the day at your own leisure. DAY 2 | HANOI HISTORICAL SIGHTS


Pickup time: 09:00 from hotel Estimated tour completion 16:00 Your trip will start with the Ho Chi Minh Complex, containing the Mausoleum of the nation’s founder Ho Chi Minh, the Presidential Palace, Ho Chi Minh’s house on stilts. Close to this site is the One Pillar Pagoda, whose origin dates back to the foundation of Hanoi a thousand year ago. Your tour of Hanoi continues with a trip to the remarkable Temple of Literature, well known as Vietnam’s first university. Lunch at local restaurant. Back to hotel and enjoy the rest of the day at your own leisure. Overnight at hotel in Hanoi




DAY 3 | DUONG LAM ANCIENT VILLAGE


Pickup time: 09:00 from Hotel Estimated tour completion 16:00 09:00 Driving two hours to Duong Lam, an ancient village situated about 35 miles west of Hanoi. The only place in Vietnam that is the birthplace of two different kings, Duong Lam was recognized as a National Relic in 2005, shortly after similar recognition for Hoi An’s Old Town and Hanoi’s ancient quarter. Visit Duong Lam Commune, comprised of six hamlets with ancient architecture dating as far back as 1638. Enter through the well-preserved 500-year old village gate and walk through the narrow lanes of Mong Phu, the biggest of these hamlets. The centuries-old buildings are made of mud taken from a nearby paddy and laterite, a type or red soil abundant in the area. Each hamlet has a communal house that is a place of worship dedicated to the founder of the village. Festivals and folk performances usually take place in the yards in front of communal houses. Ending his availability, you may have the opportunity to meet with Mr. Huyen, a culture and history scholar who also owns the oldest house in the village. Lunch at Local house – Mr. Huyen Stop in Mia Pagoda. Built sometime during the Tran Dynasty (1225-1406), this pagoda contains ancient artifacts including 287 statues made of bronze, wood and clay. Of note are a sculpture of Bud-dha in the Himalayas, statues of the eight Vajra deities, a red bell dating back to 1743, and stone tables from 1632. Visit Phung Hung Temple and Ngo Quyen Temple, which are named after two of Vietnam’s national heroes. Afterwards, return to Hanoi and enjoy the rest of the day at your own leisure. DAY 4 | OPTIONAL TOURS


OPTION 1: VIETNAMESE ARTIST’S STUDIO Pickup time: 09:00 from hotel Estimated tour completion 15:00 Start your Ha Noi city tour with Vietnamese Artist Studio – Mr. Dao Anh Khanh Today, enjoy your flexible touring in Hanoi with our expert local guide. Our guide will escort you to any sightseeing around the city such as the old quarter, local markets, sacred Temples or walk through some maze likes village roads around the West Lake area. In the afternoon, we will take a short drive to the outskirt of Hanoi to visit the studio of Dao Anh Khanh, he is one of the very interesting Artist who has a huge collection of lacquer painting, lacquer on canvas and sculptures. His studio is surrounded with tree house type which is now hosted to tourist and there are also many art works be displayed here at his traditional Vietnamese house which was built on stilt. Khanh is a surrealist, he is an internationally recognized leader among Asian artists who are breaking away from traditional, stylistic, and political constraints. His mind knows no limits, escaping to the outer reaches of the universe in search of tranquility, and finding explosions of renewed personal energy on the way. He is the consummate romanticist, hearing musical instruments and enchanting strains even in the most violent windstorms or disturbances at sea. Khanh is also an avowed environmentalist, sculptor, performing artist, musician and painter. OPTION 2: HANOI STREET FOOD TOUR Tour start 12:00 from Hang Bac Street Estimated tour completion 15:00 12:00 begin a street tour. First we visit the street stalls and markets, sampling the produce and eating from their dishes and bowls, as well as cooking with the ingredients at home.which typically includes a street market walk (with ongoing explanations of food practices, strange food items, some delicacies), a visit to ceremonial cake stalls, a special French dessert, the food sections of Hanoi’s main Dong Xuan market, a street food alley for a noodle lunch, fruit stalls and coffee at an historic old quarter cafe. End tour at 15:00 and transfer back to your hotel. OPTION 3: VESPA ADVENTURES – HANOI AFTER DARK Tour start 18:00 from hotel Estimated tour completion 22:00 Hanoi After dark start at our stylish local Café with a cocktail and a delicious snack from one of the nearby night time vendors, before jumping on the back of the vintage Vespas. After weaving through the magical, busy back streets of the Old Quarter, we soon arrive at a fascinating local joint, right on the railway tracks (literally!) where we try some infused rice wine and a Buffalo Jerky appetizer. It’s back riding through the narrow streets again, as we head toward our next foodie place, a lively local restaurant serving Bun Cha. This the quintessential, must taste Hanoi dish of rice noodles, grilled pork and meatballs, with a side of Nem (spring rolls). Simple but delicious. We then head out of the Old Quarter and ride close by the lake toward our next venue, which is very famous in the neighbourhood! We try the local specialty of Pho Cuon, and learn the art of wrap ‘n’ roll, Vietnamese style with these fresh & fragrant ingredients, and the Pho noodle! A short ride on the Vespa takes us to our final port of call, next to the superb Opera House. The halcyon days of the 1930’s may be over, however, this Jazz Club will wow you with a truly unique blend of styles – 30’s style Jazz & traditional Vietnamese music! Overnight at hotel in Hanoi
